Why S.A.F.E
Research, including reports from Crest Advisory, highlights the deep-rooted lack of trust Black children have in the police—shaped by experiences of adultification, stop and search, and systemic racial bias.
To truly safeguard our children, we must start these critical conversations early. This means not only addressing vulnerability but also empowering young people to shape their own safety and well-being.
Early dialogue is vital for mental health, helping Black children see themselves as active participants rather than passive recipients in their interactions with authority.
At the heart of S.A.F.E.’s mission is education, recognising that amplifying the voices of young people is essential to building informed, respectful, and equitable systems of policing.
The S.A.F.E. (Shaping Active Futures for Empowerment) Programme is designed to create a safe and open space for Black minority young people to have honest conversations about trust, policing, and their lived experiences.
It is led by a Black former officer, using their lived experience to explore why some Black children do not always feel safe around the police. This programme is not about crime—it is about trust, relationships, and solutions.
The SAFE programme is designed to create long-term impact by shifting perspectives, building trust, and equipping young people with the tools to navigate interactions with authority confidently
Young people leave feeling more empowered, informed, and able to challenge unfairness constructively. This isn’t about making them ‘accept’ policing as it is—but about helping them shape what it should be.
As a keynote speaker, panellist, and facilitator, I bring a compelling blend of lived experience, professional insight, and authentic storytelling to every platform I step onto. Grounded in my journey as a Black woman in policing and leadership, I speak with honesty, depth, and purpose—sparking reflection, dialogue, and ultimately, meaningful change.
Whether delivering a keynote, sitting on a panel, or facilitating a support session, my focus remains the same: to connect, challenge, and inspire. I create spaces where audiences feel safe to explore uncomfortable truths, consider new perspectives, and reimagine what inclusive, courageous leadership looks like in action.
